Internet holes I curl up in often
Bohemian Productions
I am a founding member of theatre-science collective Bohemian Productions, based in Canberra in the Australie.
Poe News
A news service and forum owned by the very people who also host this website. They are my internet grandfathers. I suspect they are American and
Mappalujo
Writers Jeff Noon and Steve Beard developing a story out of a collaborative writing process called Mappalujo. You might like or love or dislike or hate the story, but the process itself is very cool. More important than the story itself is this explanation of the rules.
Edge - third culture
Articles and discussions by scientists on things that intrigue them.
The Dead Media Project
Bruce Sterling’s massive and ultimately doomed project to gather information on all the machines and devices that have been rendered obsolete over the course of history. Including, sadly, the cat piano.
Lina Andonovska
The blog of my partner, flutist and flamenca Lina Andonovska, featuring samples of her work free to download.
Babies in danger
An artist I have been lucky enough to collaborate with, senor Frostilicus himself, operates this site which is, as far as I can tell, simply a single page depicting a baby in some kind of danger. Keep checking back, the baby and the danger shift every so often.
Bee-fetish
Another grand artist who has the power to make my work look pretty (and by pretty I mean grisly), the classical historian Tacitus. His website provides consumables for the niche market of the sophisticated yet tragically unwell.
E and Mu
It is a comic on the internet, as it proclaims itself. It is also the work of Alasdair Tremblay-Birchall, who is what I would (and will) describe as a savant.
The Hunting Season
The follow-up to the 2007 W.E.T. Season at Belconnen Theatre, which featured a swarm of theatre productions by new and emerging Canberra theatre artists and collectives. I were fortunate enough to manage the Wet Season (under the guide of BCS Arts & Cultural Officer Jan Wawrcynczak) and was one of the organisers of the currently-taking-form Hunting Season.
Traverse Poetry
ACT poetry savant Jules Fleetwood runs the ACT Poetry Slams, and other writing and literary events under the Traverse Poetry banner. If you click on the link you will see that this is true.
Canberra Youth Theatre
This organisation provides workshops. training and development for theatre artists aged 8 - 25. Since I came into contact with them (2003), they have provided so much support and so many opportunities for my own career path - highly recommended for anyone in the age-range, whether beginning an arts career or well on the way.
TURBOslams
A squadron of ACT poets and word-murderers presenting the monthly poetry slams at the Front Cafe, at which I have been a sometime contributor, and now they are hard at work generating the filthy cross-artform slush that is the TURBOslams. Good, in the good sense.
I is just what you say you to
Home page of Nickamc, longtime collaborator in all my artistic ventures since before there were artistic ventures. He is a writer, director, performer, but his driving love is music, and this blog is mostly based around that aspect of his work.
Cardboard Charlie
Ben Drysdale is a Canberra director, actor and producer of events, including a swag of musical nights in venues around the city. Cardboard Charlie is his doing.
Happydance (Arran McKenna’s portfolio)
Canberra, actor, visual artist and member of corrupt theatre triumvirate The Masters of Space and Time. This is an excellent repository of his work.
Shadowhouse PITS
Theatre company run by Joe Woodward. One of the most active long-term experimental companies on the Canberra scene, with a focus on the ’shadow’ of human nature. I acted in the PITS‘ 2004 productions of Acting Artaud in Canberra and Sydney, and it were one of the mightiest gatherings of talent I ever have seen.
Paris Hat Productions
Theatre company formed by Fiona Atkin and Eliza Bateman.
Ben Hamey
Ben Hamey is a Canberra entrepeneur: actor, producer, graphic designer, web-designer, film-maker and radio host for Artsound FM. We first encountered each other in 2000, and subsequently have collaborated in an array of theatre projects (most recently, Ben designed the program for Belconnen Theatre’s 2007 Wet Season). A skilled individual.
The Riotact
An open blog / forum about dwelling in the capital city of Australie. Often there appear listings and reviews of arts or performance events. In a similar vein, Loadedog.com is a collective of ACT writers, artists and musicians who promote and review events around the Cancers (and Loadedog have been kind enough to provide a link to this very page - truly the top bracket of humanity).
The Street Theatre
One of the theatres in this city which I have produced work (beginning with Bohemian’s production of The Woman in Black in 2002). Many nights spent sitting in the courtyard behind the studio theatre sewing sets together warming my hands at the brazier.
Sevenen
Canberra music-maker Reuben Ingall is a member (with Nickamc) of punk/metal outfit Inflatable Ingrid, DJ’s as Dead Baby Joke, creates experimental noises as static.sound.silence (again with Nickamc), and creates guerilla art around Canberra. In his Sevenen persona, he is responsible for some beautiful electronic melodies, a number of which are available to download from his website.
Chris Caines
Is a Brisbane-based new media thinker and music-maker, associated with luminaries such as Shannon O’Neill and his blog is laced with doses of unhealthy wisdom to aid you through the smog of your life.
Quiet Space
A weekly program of abstract experimental music on Australia’s Radio National presented by Paul Gough (aka Pimmon). You can listen to the most recent broadcasts on the website and they will make you peaceful and wise.
Jordan doesn’t exist
Senor J.A. Prosser is one half (with Sam Burns-Warr) of the writing team behind The Landlords, one of my favourite new works of 2007. This site holds some of Prosser’s prose and lyrical work - only a few scraps thus far but good -
